Awaiting Your Return by Lacey Shanks

To defy they stand.
Hoping I didn't have a hand.

Raised in hope,
how are they to cope.
Given a gift,
so precious and rare,
have they cause to drift.
Celebrating their gross deeds.
Where will this all lead.
Sins disguised as freedom,
not in his kingdom.
Hurting the one above,
the one they loved.
I sit without judgment or tears.
Hoping never to project my fears.
Your safe return,
I pray,
I wait,
I hope.
